All cabinet doors and drawers have bookmatched veneers and share a common face frame. This is basically one big cabinet.
Notice that the knobs on the top row of wall cabinets are identical to the knobs on the lower wall cabinets – only slightly smaller. This preserves the proportional relationship between cabinet and knob.
Hiding the oven behind the peninsula improves the view from the dining room and allows two people to work in the space with greater ease.
Mount Pleasant
Kitchen
Because this kitchen is on full view from the dining room we wanted these cabinets to read more as built-in furniture than utilitarian kitchen cabinets. It is extremely successful in this respect. Each block of contiguous doors or drawers is part of one enormous cabinet, assembled and finished on-site. The built-in refrigerator wall is perpendicular to the dining room, making it much less noticeable, and the oven is hiding from diners on the opposite side of the peninsula. Face frames are accented with a traditional 1/8” bead, cut and fit by hand at every joint. All veneers are bookmatched vertically and horizontally within door & drawer sets. Drawer bodies are stainless steel for long life, countertops are concrete with integrated cove to receive the handmade backsplash tile.
